Anna Kristiina Kokko

Anna Kristiina Kokko is a postdoctoral researcher in education policy and governance. Her research focuses on the temporal dimensions of education policy and on how past, present, and future are entangled in the governance of education and everyday school practices.

Her current research is structured around two interrelated strands. First, she examines the historical and socio-material dimensions of school spaces, focusing on how past policy decisions, ideas, and material arrangements persist into the present and shape imaginaries of educational futures. Second, she analyses anticipatory governance, attending to how future visions, forecasts, and expectations are entangled with present-day practices within processes of economisation and governance in education.

Methodologically, she combines ethnographic, policy-analytical, and archival approaches. Her work is oriented toward developing theoretically rich and methodologically experimental qualitative research approaches that foreground the temporal and political conditions through which education becomes governable.
