Johanna Kallio

Johanna Kallio is a doctoral researcher in the Faculty of Education and Culture at Tampere University, Finland. Her main research interests are philosophy of education, theories of self, theories of emotions and feminist theories in education. 

In her educational theoretic PhD research, she develops the model for ecologically sustainable self-education by using Martha Nussbaum’s neo-Stoic theory of emotions. Find more about her PhD research here.

Kallio is a part of the research project ”Activism Beyond Hope and Despair: Possibilities of Self-Cultivation in an Age of Environmental Crises” lead by docent Antti Saari (PI) which is funded by Kone Foundation 2020–2022.
